Interior Building Separation and Refurbishment Works
Location: Great Minster House, Westminster
Commission: Project Management and Contract Administration
Accommodating ministers and senior civil servants this was a very difficult project to enable the DfT to vacate one wing of their head office and retract into the remaining block. The building was originally constructed as two separate blocks but on leasing the property the building was combined and had since operated as a single entity.
The strategy was to decant and restack the building, relocate strategic services such as UPS, server rooms and cooling capacity and then work progressively through the building to physically separate the structure, mechanical, electrical, and ICT services over a series of phases.
The project was completed ahead of schedule realising significant additional financial savings for the government.
